Nate Swab Awarded AFCEA 40 Under 40

Huntsville, AL – April 29, 2020 –  Sentar Inc. (Sentar), a women-owned business specializing in advanced cybersecurity and Intelligence solutions and technology, announced today that one of its employees, Nathan (Nate) Swab, USAF Retired, has been selected as a winner of the Young AFCEA 40 Under 40 Award! The Young AFCEA 40 Under 40 Award is given to 40 individuals ages 40 and under for their significant contributions in a technical science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) field by providing innovation, thought leadership, and support to their client or organizations using information technology (IT).

Nate currently serves as Marketplace Cyber Functional Lead within Sentar, Inc. and the Company’s support to the Defense Health Agency (DHA). In this capacity, Nate works with various functional teams and activities within the DHA and across associated Service lines.

Nate’s leadership efforts were recognized by the 2020 FedHealthIT Innovation Award for the Marketplace Technology Integration Office (MTIO) cyber initiative.

The MTIO initiative was awarded by FedHealthIT for contributing significantly to the complex transition of overhauling the Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) into one DHA enterprise. This effort requires a massive transition of military networks, infrastructure, and medical devices to one standardized information network to deliver healthcare to facilities. This standardization involves a large-scale internal restructure while enabling the rollout of MHS Genesis, a multi-billion dollar update to the MHS’ legacy Electronic Health Record (EHR) solution.

This effort, which was led under Nate’s supervision, has been proven to be successful as they maximized enterprise productivity; the team has accelerated work on 165 cyber authorizations, ceasing the downward spiral of unauthorized systems. Moreover, through streamlined business processes, the team is capturing risk data for 40 sites on the new DHA network in real-time. Additionally, Nate’s team was able to enhance strategy development. The team’s widespread visibility into sites across the enterprise has proven useful in strategy development based on the ability to rapidly disperse messages, collect data, and make informed decisions.

Nate’s leadership, his critical problem-solving skills, and his ability to deliver high-quality results, make him instrumental not just to Sentar, but across the Health Information Technology industry. His contributions are critical for future industry pursuits.

“This award represents the lessons learned from mentors and colleagues I’ve had the pleasure of working with throughout my career,” said Nate. “Their diligent guidance got me to where I am today. I owe this award to them and my incredible team at Sentar.”
