Sentar Announces Milestone of 30 Years of Innovation

Huntsville, AL – February 20, 2020 – Sentar, Inc. (Sentar), a women-owned business specializing in advanced Cybersecurity and Intelligence solutions and technology, announced today that the company has surpassed the milestone of 30 years in business.

In 1990, Sentar founders Peter and Karen Kiss purchased Wake Research Group, a small systems engineering business that would be rebranded as Sentar, Inc.

“Sentar was founded on the premise that employees are our most important asset. We hold that as a cornerstone of our culture to this date,” said Peter Kiss, founder.

With the award of two DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Products Agency) contracts in 1995, the company began to shift its focus to research and development efforts. Since then, Sentar has an established history of analytics innovation, developing technology using artificial intelligence and agent-based algorithms long before those terms were in vogue. Sentar was awarded multiple patents for these technology solutions and secured numerous SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) projects to apply those technologies to real operational challenges. As national security systems became more inter-connected, the challenge of cybersecurity captured the attention of the company’s researchers and they began applying AI towards securing our defense systems even before formal requirements to do so existed.

In 2009, Sentar launched a strategic initiative to establish an Intelligence Community footprint and fuse intelligence data with cybersecurity. The company next initiated a strategic push in the Charleston, SC defense market, achieving significant growth in delivering cybersecurity and secure, integrated systems solutions to the Defense Health Agency and Navy clients. In 2013, Sentar significantly expanded their Army portfolio with the award of multiple prime contracts for cybersecurity and knowledge management.

On Thursday, January 30th, Sentar held their 30th Anniversary Celebration at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Hundreds of corporate partners, customers, and Sentar employees celebrated the milestone.

“Today, Sentar is much more than a cybersecurity company.  We are a company focused on delivering secure solutions across the cyber domain.  We do that by fusing the insights and expertise of our cybersecurity and intelligence professionals with our data analysts, systems engineers, and software developers to innovate, build, and secure mission-critical systems that enhance our national security and protect our way of life,” said Sentar President Darren Kraabel.  “Our success to date, and our success moving forward, can be attributed to that cause and our culture that inspires people to come to work for Sentar and to stay at Sentar.  Our people are making a positive impact in the communities in which we live, work, and play on a daily basis.  And that inspires me.”
