Sentar Recognized by DoD for Outstanding Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve
Huntsville, AL – February 16, 2018 – Sentar, Inc. (Sentar), a Women-Owned Small Business, announced today it was presented the “Above and Beyond” Award by the South Carolina Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an office of the U.S. Department of Defense, for their support as a patriotic employer during a ceremony held at the organization’s annual Employer Recognition Luncheon on February 15, 2018.
At the ESGR-sponsored ceremony, the “Above and Beyond” Award was presented to Sentar and a select few other employers out of thousands in the state that employ Guardsmen and Reservists. There to accept the award on behalf of the company were Joseph (Joe) Sabin, J.D., Portfolio Manager for Sentar’s Cybersecurity and Health IT Programs, and Nicky Shipp, Sentar’s Recruiting Manager. Joe was the recipient of the Patriot Award, which qualified Sentar for the higher-level Above and Beyond Award.
According to the ESGR website, “the Above and Beyond Award is presented by ESGR State Committees to recognize employers at the local level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing their Guard and Reserve employees additional, non-mandated benefits such as differential or full pay to offset lost wages, extended health benefits and other similar benefits.”
The award is given in limited numbers by State Committees to employers who have had at least one of their supervisors/managers recognized with a Patriot Award, and who have signed or agree to sign an ESGR Statement of Support.

Sentar provides to all full-time employees who are called up to active duty, in the Reserves or the National Guard, additional benefits such as military leave and military pay differential.
