Cyber Security Engineer
Location: Charleston, SC
Ideal candidates will be
capable and have experience in several of the following areas.
Essential Job Functions:
-
Provide Information Systems Security Engineering (ISSE) services
addressing Information Assurance (IA) in development program
execution activities for DoD and Federal programs
-
Program lifecycle execution responsibilities include discovery of
information protection needs, development of security requirements
for information systems and products, development of system security
architectures, assessment of information protection effectiveness
throughout the system development, support of security design
efforts working collaboratively with functional design teams
including engagement on Integration, Test and Implementation, system
Certification & Accreditation(C&A) activities and required product
evaluation/certification efforts.

Responsible for analyzing and/or administering security controls for
information systems

Performs vulnerability assessments using vendor utility tools.
Monitors security audit and intrusion detection system logs for
system and network anomalies. Investigates and/or escalates security
violations, attempts to gain unauthorized access, virus infections
that may affect the network or other event affecting security.
Documents and reports event(s).

Assists in providing engineering analysis, design and support for
firewalls, routers, networks and operating systems.

Assists in performing product evaluations and recommends
products/services for network security. Validates and tests basic
security architecture and design solutions to produce detailed
engineering specifications with recommended vendor technologies.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering with 9
years experience, 7 years with Masters degree, or 10 plus years of
combined experience in ISSE, systems/software engineering on secure
communication systems.

ISC2 (CISSP) and SANS certifications Highly desirable.

Excellent communication (written and oral), negotiation and
interpersonal skills necessary executing ISSE activities/challenges
working with engineering teams, management, customers, partners and
government - In-depth ISSE experience developing systems in
compliance to current DoD, CJCS and military service IA policy,
directives, instructions, tech guidance etc., including addressing
system and product C&A efforts

Experience working with secure design and implementation of tactical
communication systems and products including network technologies
i.e. Ethernet, TCP/IP, etc.

Experience integrating Computer Network Defense (CND) design
solutions i.e. firewalls, intrusion protection, proxies, etc., into
system solutions

Practical experience in leading teams Experience in the Information
Assurance arena

Strong Leadership, project and time management skills with ability
to work in demanding and dynamic team environments
-
Security Clearance Required.
